Foraged Plant Fibre Workshop
March 23 @ 9:00 am – 4:30 pm

Update: This workshop is now full and we are taking a waitlist. Become a member to get early access and reduced admission for future workshops.
Led by local artist Ralph Simpson, in this one-day workshop each participant will create a basket woven with locally foraged plant fibres. Beginners are welcome, and intermediate students could be challenged with advanced weaving techniques. Learn about the plant fibres in use, their names, how to collect, process, store, and prepare them for weaving, as well as important aspects of environmentally sustainable collection methods. All necessary materials will be provided, but students are asked to bring scissors, measuring tape, a spray bottle if you have one, and a tea towel. Although it is not necessary, you are invited to bring any plant fibres or other textiles that you might like to incorporate.
