Little Free Poetry Library

July 8, 2025 @ 1:30 pm 2:30 pm

Written by Fawn Parker:

Fredericton! On Tuesday July 8th at 1:30pm we will be unveiling the “Little Free Poetry Library” in the Fredericton Botanic Garden.

There will be readings by past poet laureates Jordan Trethewey and Ian LeTourneau, and the library will be presented by Mayor Kate Rogers and myself.

We invite you to bring a book (or books) of poetry to place on the shelf.

The public is invited to join Mayor Kate Rogers and Fredericton Poet Laureate Fawn Parker for the unveiling of a new Little Free Poetry Library at the Fredericton Botanic Garden on Tuesday, July 8 at 1:30pm. The Little Free Poetry Library is an initiative of the City of Fredericton’s 4th Poet Laureate Fawn Parker. Her wish is to make poetry, especially poetry by local authors, free and accessible to the public. She has collected an assortment of books to be placed in the Library on Tuesday. Also on hand will be past Poet Laureates who will join in the poetry readings, and contribute to the library, which will be installed near the NB Literature Garden, just up the trail from the Fredericton Botanic Resource Centre off Cameron Court. The library will be free and open to the public to leave or take a book of poetry. For more information contact the City’s Cultural Development Officer at culture@fredericton.ca or 460-2020.
